Stress

Stress...how many times have you heard that word just spoken today? How much would you say you have? How much would you say others have? Chances are you would say that you are more 'stressed out' than those around you, but may I offer some rebuttal to that statement? You are more than likely wrong.

For example, if you were to know me, you would probably say that I never have stress because I'm always in a great mood, I'm always willing to jump in and help, and that I'm the person to talk to if you need to get something off your chest. But upon closer inspection into my life, you would see that I have immense stress from family, school, and friends.

I don't like talking about myself, so but on topic... Stress is something that everyone undergoes. Everyday, we are all exposed to things that cause it and everyday, more and more people become depressed because of it. So what does God's Word say on the topic? One verse in particular sticks out in my mind.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

In other words, instead of letting stress bog down our lives, we should lean on what He says and on His truth...and "the truth shall set you free!"

So why let stress, sin, and grief ruin your day, your life? Lean on God, He will lift your burden and your pain, He will bring the healing and the peace! Praise God that He loves us enough to care so much about us!

Psalms 46:10

Psalm 46:10 (New International Version)

"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."

Such a strong verse in a decaying world...

Read through Acts, chapter 2. Notice what the early Christians did. They were so amazed at God, so filled with His Spirit that the only thing they could think to do was to just stand there in awe!

Look at the Christian's of today... What has happened to that spirit of worship God gave to the early Christians? A better question would be what have we done with it? God never leaves nor forsakes us (Joshua 1:5), but we leave and forsake Him almost everyday...it's called sin...and us being human, we are full of it... But fortunately, God loves us. That's why He sent His one and only, His Son, Jesus, to die for us, to provide us with the only way to heaven, the only way to God (John 14:6). He doesn't ask us to do anything in responce to His love except that we believe that He did what He did, that is send His Son to die for our sins and that God raised Him from the dead 3 days after we crucified Him on the cross. How can we continue to be silent about this?! How can we sit on the couch with a remote control in our hand, watching TV, or sitting in front of a computer screen, reading what God has put on someone else's heart and not want to get out there and spread God's love to a lost and dying world?

My prayer is that God would create a world-wide revival, not just for the lost, but also for the people who claim to be Christians. If we could just be still, like the early Christians, and just listen for God to speak in the silence...our world could be changed...our would would be changed!
